Marion is passionate about her family, friends, and faith. She has a very creative side which she keeps alive and active through her store and her arts. She collects vintage Mexican pottery, figurines of pigs, burros, and children reading. Somewhere, somehow, along the line, a prissy flirty hot pink flamingo has become the mascot for austin-ford. You will find representatives memorialized in chalk ware on the front porch, flanking the pink mailbox at the road, painted on the wall in the restroom, and in life size figures stationed throughout the store. The "girl's" of her family all have Pomeranians, so expect to be greeted by Mo, the shop dog, and whichever other members of the canine family that might be visiting. In the summer, be sure to ask to see Marion's flower garden where she cultivates the local Russian Sage, Holly Hocks and hummingbirds. Some of their photographs are scrolling through the bar of this web site.
Owning a store where women can come and congregate when rural life starts closing in had been a dream of hers for a few years. The store was finally opened in 2004 and has been a beaconing light in the small community of Stanley. A welcoming Chinese red upholstered couch sits in the center of the store, putting an exclamation point on the phrase, "the couch is always open". It is a comforting seat for the weary shopper or simply a host to a spontaneous coffee klatch conversation. If you would like to receive invitations to store events, please fill out the customer request form at the bottom of this page.
